Happy New Year

Welcome 2011!! We were busy, busy in December but now we have a bit of time to take a breath as we get ready for this new year. Lots of new designs that are waiting for us in the basement, we will get to soon. Valentines is coming up soon and that is exciting to think about too..

Lynn had a new addition to their family this year so now, she has two little granddaughters to sew for. They looked precious in their twin Christmas tree dresses that they wore for the holidays. Those t-shirt dresses are so fun to make and the possibilities are endless as to what to put on them. We hope to do some spring ones soon.
Me, I still have my little grandson who is 2 1/2 and almost out of that window to wear embroidered things. His Mother requested some t-shirts with animals on them for him to have this fall, so Grammie was busy doing squirrels, dragons and dinosaurs for Heston to have. Will have to post pictures later of those.

Adelyn turned 2 this fall and she loves Minnie Mouse. She wore a 2 Stitches little dress with Minnie Mouse appliqued on the front. She also had some Minnie mouse panties to match! Quite the Minnie Mouse Princess for her big day!!

We have fixed some appliques for some summer t-shirts. A new kind of design, called reverse applique, is a fun new option. It looks great on t-shirts. Also did a dress for Ava with her name on it. Summer brings all sorts of options for little ones!

Easter is right around the corner!

Seems like we are just getting into the new year and now, Easter is not too far off. At least in our world of monogramming, it is right around the corner. Gotta start early here or it will pass us by. We have lots of cute spring and Easter monograms and appliques. Here are two new ones that we really love. Happy February!!

Well, Christmas has come and gone and it was great. Always a bit sad to see the tree come down but the memories of the season will be around for a while longer. These little outfits were handmade for these precious little boys to wear in a wedding. We were asked to monogram their initials on the front. A little nervous to tackle that on such special outfits but I think they turned out great. We don`t get to use Addison as a model much with her living so far from us but we were able to see her in our lil` punkin t-shirt a few weeks ago. She is getting so grown up and soon will be a big sister!! We are already thinking what else we can do pink!! Also a few more new Christmas designs that we are liking. Can`t believe that it is getting so close to Thanksgiving then Christmas will be here. Oh my, but let`s just enjoy this week of Thanksgiving and reflect on all we have to be thankful for this year. We have been working on trying to get some pictures of our things for our web site. A friend is helping us by taking pictures to use. These are some of the first ones she took several weeks ago with her little girl, Pierce, being the model. We had a great time last week at the Overton Park taking bunches of pictures. Hope to post those soon. Heston went to help with the modeling along with Pierce and several other willing children. Maybe one day we will have it all together with our site, until then, we will just have to update our blog!

Adelyn`s outfit

I fixed a little summer outfit for my great niece to have. She looks precious modeling it with those long eyelashes! I used a cute A applique and made it small enough to fit the little yoke. It is fun to try new ideas out for these little ones!
We just that big order that I have been waiting for and it means lots of work coming up soon. The inventory should be coming in by Wednesday so it will be a busy few weeks gettting it all embroidered and ready for pickup. Have a great week!

Wedding ideas and more

We just did this big insulated soft ice bucket for a wedding present. It will hold lots of cold drinks! Our first corporate order is in the making. We did these shirts this week and next week the rest of the order is coming in. If all goes well, it should keep us busy for a while!!

Second ACL over!

Lara had her ACL surgery on Wednesday and is home, already gone to two physical therapy sessions. She came home the same day surgery, just like Barrett did several weeks ago. Thank goodness, these surgeries are behind us all and these two can do everything possible to make the knees good as new! Looks like it will be a rehabing summer for both Barrett and Lara!

Barrett had his ACL surgery today and is already home. He is in pain but all went well with the surgery. Lynn and Rick actually got to watch the whole procedure! He has to be up to rehab first thing tomorrow morning. They don`t let these patients waste much time before the rehab starts! Rick and Lynn want to thank everyone for all the prayers that have been lifted up for Barrett.

Lara will have hers in May. Will keep you posted.....

ACL surgeries, anyone?

Lynn and I both have prayer requests to share with you. Both of our children, I say that like they are little kids but they are 19 and 20 year olds (!), are going to have ACL surgery in the next month. Her son, Barrett, is having his tomorrow morning at St. Vincents Hospital here in Birmingham. My daughter, Lara, is having hers in May, when she gets home from Baylor at the end of her semester. Barrett and Lara will have months of rehab after the surgery. We would ask that you remember them in your prayers. Please pray for successful surgeries and for speedy rehabs to get them both back up and to their normal schedules as soon as possible. Thank you !

Seersucker Easter pants

Heston has to model his new Easter pants with monogrammed pocket on the back. They are made of seersucker navy/white fabric. His mommie finished the look for him with a white vest and white polo little shirt. It was the perfect outfit for a beautiful Easter day!

Christmas has come and gone and now here we are in 2009!! We have both had a great week with families and friends, celebrating the birth of Jesus and then the ringing in of the new year. We have enjoyed having our houses full, clothes on the floors, voices coming from upstairs and the sound of cars coming in the driveway late at night, bedroom doors opening to say, "I`m home, Mom". But now the kids are starting to go back to their homes, jobs and schools and life is fixing to get back to normal. We are once again, empty nesters.

We have taken a few weeks off from the machine but we are now looking forward to this new year and what it has in store for us with our 2 Stitches little company!! We are always entertaining new ideas and new projects and are excited about moving ahead with some of them. So check back with us to see what we are working on. Come see us whenever you want to. Last minute sewing

A few more last minute things to sew and we should be getting close to being finished. We have had fun with our machine doing things for ourselves to give, in between orders! Here are some things from this week that have been finished. Can`t believe that Christmas is coming so quickly. Seems like we just celebrated Thanksgiving!!

Children coming home from college soon, then things will pick up for sure around our houses. It will be good to have them all home, if only for a short while. Lara is coming home on Sunday, driving the whole way from Baylor by herself!! She insists that she will be fine and is actually looking forward to the drive. We will see what she says afterwards..........

Barrett and Zack will be coming home soon, in time to go to Knoxville for Christmas to be with all the Tennessee family there. Chase, Kristen and Addison will be coming for a short 4 days but it will be quality time together with them!!!

We both are looking forward to have these new grandbabies with us for Christmas. It will be a special time indeed!! We have so much to be thankful for..

Last minute presents to buy, things to wrap, meals to plan, houses to clean, food to cook, cards to be addressed and stamped, etc., etc...... so much to think about but our motto is to "stay focused". We are trying not to worry about things that we have no control over, but to stay focused on Him and how we can let His glory shine in all we do.

Christmas sewing

We have been getting our last minute traveling done so we can concentrate on the next few weeks before Christmas and all we have left to do. We did some Christmas dresses for a friend and her grand daughters with little wreaths on the big white collars. Here are some pictures of them. Thanksgiving

We both have so much to be thankful for this year. Have we mentioned that we both have new grandbabies?!! What a special time of year for us to be with our families and these new babies!! Lynn`s little Addison just celebrated her first birthday. She and Rick were able to go to West Virginia to be with Chase, Kristen and Addison for the long Thanksgiving weekend. What a great visit to watch Addison as she has this big birthday celebration, to watch her start walking all over the place and to just be with Chase and Kristen for Thanksgiving.

Jane and her family went to Gaga and Papa`s house for the big dinner. They had 21 for dinner but the two new grandbabies took center stage! One home from Baylor, one home from New York with a new fiance, so the family was complete if only for one night!!

We both have so much to be thankful for indeed. We are thankful for the path God has led us down as we opened our new business this year and we look forward to what He has in store for us next year. We are thankful for our families and new grandbabies. But we are thankful, most of all, for the upcoming Christmas season and the true meaning.of Christmas ............... the birthday of Jesus.

Briarwood Christmas Show

Our first big show has come and gone. We worked our little tails off getting ready for this one!! We were sewing our t-shirt dresses up until the last minute!! We were real pleased with our new outfits that we had to show and even got a new display to hang them on. There were lots of people at the show, lots of lookers!! We sold some and got some compliments and learned lots of things. We are planning our next outing to show some inventory and sell some of these little girl outfits.

Can`t believe we are down to counting in "weeks" before Christmas is here. Our goal is to finish things up in plenty of time to enjoy this special time of year with our family and friends. We both look forward to spending Christmas with our new little Grandchildren!

The Christmas rush is on

We have been busy these last few weeks getting ready for the Christmas season with our new line of clothes and accessories. Several weeks ago, we went to our first fabric market here in Birmingham. It was a bit overwhelming with all that fabric in one huge room. We could have spent hours at any one of the fabric sample tables! We had decisions to make and decisions that had to be made then and there. Our motto was to "Stay focused"!! We moved quickly from table to table and found exactly what we were looking for, after much thought and discussion with vendors. We made our decisions, purchased our fabric and were very energized as we left. Then, reality sank in.......... All this fabric would be coming in soon and we needed to be organized and ready for it. Well, some has come and a few are still on the way but we busy moving ahead with what we have. Here is a picture of one of the outfits that we will have available in several sizes. We are starting small this year with only a few outfits available for fall but we already have our spring dress in our minds that we will have. If you like brown, hot pink and lime then you will want to check back to see what this dress will look like!! One thing we are excited about this year is our screen printed white long sleeve t-shirts ,available in youth and adult sizes. It is a simple, hand drawn picture of the manger with baby Jesus, a little sheep and one single star above with simply "the gift", written on the bottom. Can you believe Christmas in September? Well, we are busy getting our inventory ready in our minds first, then in our physical office space so we will be ready for you to start shopping for Christmas!

This has been a busy summer for us. Grandbabies for both of us in 8 months, kids going back to college, starting law school, in medical school and did we mention that we both have new grandbabies?!!!!
